Principal EBCO concerns

  • No release of professional soldiers, on grounds of conscience, including during a state of emergency.

  • No full guarantee of international protection for conscientious objectors to military service who are at risk of persecution in their country of origin.

  • Militarisation of education2 and no updated information on the implementation of the recommendation of the Committee on the Rights of the Child to “ensure that children are not subjected to military training that involves the use of firearms”.3
